With the rise of social media, we can get distracted looking for the latest shiny new object. Shiny object syndrome is real. I have just spent the last 4 weeks reviewing and learning “To Do List and Project Mgt Software”. Every time I think this is it, I've found the perfect system for me, I stumble across another product and subscribe and test this shiny new version for a few more days never getting to that point thinking I've found this best product fit. It's unrelenting.
The same goes for your health and fitness routine. It seems we are always looking for the next best thing. How to make us fitter, thinner, stronger. just take this pill or do this routine. Marketing companies love these people. 😁
Full in love with the boring. If I reflect back over my career, there is more time behind me than this is in front these days, 🤦♂️ whenever I have achieved something that I’m really proud of, it has always been doing the boring things for a really long time. This is not to say that I haven’t chased shiny new things on occasion. However, every time I went after the shiny new thing, things didn’t work out very well. I’ve lost hundreds of thousands of dollars chasing shiny new business investments. People promising massive Blue Sky and delivering zero or worse, they stole my money.
If you want to lose 10kg, build a consistent routine and fall in love with it. Remind yourself each day why you started the routine in the first place. Stop scrolling endlessly through IG and looking for the next person who promises you the secret to losing 10kg, FAST.
Create a healthy Routine
Get up at the same time every day. Every day means 7 days per week.
Create an exercise routine. Walk for 30 minutes every morning. Take the stairs whenever you can. This is a no-brainer.
Eat the same food every day at about the same time. BORING. But it works. Count calories for 1–2 weeks then you know exactly how many calories you are getting every day by eating the same food, then you can ditch the calorie counter.
Go to bed at the same time every night.
It sounds pretty boring right? But boring, is trying to lose 10 kg for 5 years and nothing changes. Boring is telling everyone, when I lose this weight I'm going to do x. Boring is planning to join the gym, and never starting. 🥱
My typical day looks like this:
Wake up at 5:30 am
📖 🏃♂️ I read/write or run — depending on what the schedule is.
☕️ Coffee at 6:30 with a friend
🍳 Breakfast at 7:30. Same breakfast every day
🗓️ Start work around 8:30 from home
🏢 Head to the office around 10 am
🥪 Lunch at 11:45 am — Same lunch 5 days per week. I change it up on the weekends
🧂 Protein Shake at 3:30 pm
💪 Gym or Run at 6 pm
🥘 Dinner at 7:30
