The study titled "Association of Smartwatch-Based Heart Rate and Physical Activity With Cardiorespiratory Fitness Measures in the Community" explores how data from smartwatches can assess cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF). Conducted with 662 participants, it found that lower resting heart rates and higher daily step counts, as measured by smartwatches, correlate with higher peak oxygen uptake and other CRF measures.
