🏃♂️🏋️ Hyrox Cologne was a nail-biter. Just over 1 minute separated 2nd to 8th place. But the spotlight was on the explosive Aussie, James Kelly. Kelly shot out of the gate and the race was close until they hit the BBJ where Kelly put the hammer down and pulled away. From here on Kelly was on his own and at one point of the race, he was on World Record Pace. Kelly had an average run time of 3:28 per lap over the 8 x 1km laps.
Overall, it was a phenomenal race but there was only one spot up for grabs for World Champs in Nice, France this year. The final two spots for Nice will now be decided in LA in 5 weeks.
Kelly, who has recently changed coaches is now being coached by Anthony Peressini from the Hybrid Engine. Anthony is the coach and husband of 3 x Hyrox World Champion Lauren Weeks.
It was a bit of a risk to change coaches in the months leading up to the event but whatever they did over at the Hybrid Engine, worked.
Kelly looks like he is heading in the right direction to challenge World Record Holder Hunter McIntyre for the Hyrox Crown come June this year.
